Toilet seal

We have been gone on travels for a month and a half now. I have been having problems with the toilet seal. I took the toilet apart cleaned the seal and base and it was still leaking would not hold water. I bought Thetford seal conditioner and let it set for 8 hours in the toilet. IT WORKED it is now no longer leaking. A word of advice try the conditioner before taking it apart it could save you some time. My seal is 12 years old and there were some mineral deposits on it so taking it apart and cleaning was not a total waste of time. Just letting you all know to first try the conditioner.

RE: Saf-Tee / Saf-TTE tire monitor

Gale, that is wonderful that you are happy with their product. But in my dealings with them I found them not to be totally truthful, in waiting for my order to be handled. I attempted to have my credit card refunded but when I talked with them they were unable to do this. Tina said it would not go through. I talked to my bank when I went to dispute the charges because of my 60 day window to dispute was two days away and they said that there should not be any reason they could not reverse the charge. Now remember they had my money for almost 60 days. I got a check from them for the amount it cashed and I went away. But now they claim that there were double refunds and think that there was a credit card fraud involved....come on. I will pass along all the information I have to Law Enforcement. Since being retired Law Enforcement myself.

RE: Saf-Tee / Saf-TTE tire monitor

I have not been on this thread for some time now but I just had to come back to see what's happening to the orders when I got this email from them today:
Our local law enforcement is investigating a possible credit card scheme that is looking for any kind of information that can help them investigate a credit card fraud to our company. We are looking for any email that may have circulated that has given people a way to receive credits to their card for twice the amount of charges that was applied by their cards from SAF-TTE, LLC. The customers asked us to credit their account, and asked their credit card company for a chargeback in the same amount that was to be applied to their credit cards. During March and April we had over 80 customers that were given a double credit to their credit cards due to these practices. What the local law enforcement is looking for is for any kind of email or correspondance that took place to instruct people of a way to possibly get free money from SAF-TTE, Corp. Each instance of this practice is being investigated, and will be handed over to our local law enforcement as credit card fraud. But we really need to know if it was any one persons or a couple peoples idea on how to beat the system. All email that can be forwarded to us in this case would be kept confidental, and greatly appreciated. Thank You From Everyone At SAF-TTE, LLC.
I see they are not filling orders again..and having problems with product. Now they are using the excuse of a double credit and credit card fraud to let everyone know there are problems...Boy am I glad I went with a different company. I think if there were double credits given I would start looking at their books and practices. I feel for all of you that are still hooked into this. They don't even know how to use spell check on the computer.
Oh one other thing, deal directly with Law Enforcement if you do have information not the company. I already replied to the email with request for the investigator's name and number. I would love to talk with them.

RE: Full Body Paint Designs?

I have never had one painted but I see a few new MHs with colors and schemes I like and a lot I don't like. When you see one you like just make a note of the colors and paint scheme and go from there. Manufacturers web sites are another place to get some ideas.
Go one further take a photo of it. It is all individual tastes, now with that said I would not go with the cow theme, or camouflage, since it might be harder to sell down the road. Since I live on a gravel road I do stay away from black. Besides that If you take a photo of your unit you could have the paint scheme transposed on your unit to see what it would look like.

RE: Canvas awning repair?

You can have the material replaced. The hardware would remain. But for a quick fix 100mph Duct tape would work. I would think that Eternabond would not flex enough when you roll it back up again. Just my opinion.

RE: Here she is - 2001 Dynasty Chancellor

Great addition to the family Bill, it is simply awesome. I know and have been keeping an eye on how much you have worked on your previous coach. If I know you even if you don't have a list of things to do on it you will find some tweaking on the new one. If not polish the heck out of it....Congrats.

RE: Beartooth Hwy

Oh west of the intersection of 296 and 212 there is a creek called Crazy Creek it crosses the roadway, we stopped there if you walk up the hill from the road there is an awesome view of massive amounts of water coming off the mountain side. I took photos of it the water was thunderous. Maybe it will slow down after the thaw but it sure was flowing hard when we stopped.

Beartooth Hwy

Today we drove the Beartooth Hwy in the jeep. OMG what an awesome road. I would not take my coach up there, however I did see one my size pulling a jeep going through. The road is narrow and there are many many areas straight down with no guardrails. Not that a guardrail will stop you anyway. I have been on "Going to the Sun Highway" in Glacier National Park and have to say that "The Beartooth" is my favorite of the two. We did the loop from Cody, WY using SR 120, then SR 296 (Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy), then 212 to Red Lodge. From Red Lodge MT, we took the flatlands back to Cody via route MT SR 308, MT SR 72 that turns into WY 120 at the state line. If you are in the area don't pass up the drive. One note on 308 about six miles east of Red Lodge you will see the remains of a mining site. This is the location of the Smith Mining Disaster MT worst coal mine disaster killing 74.

RE: cabins at Black Hills South Dakota

I recommend the:
Rafter J
Yes I highly recommend Rafter J in Hill City centrally located so you can spoke off, and the road to the Needles highway is right outside their south entrance. Stayed there 5 days a week and a half ago. I have been there four times now.

RE: Need routing help please

I am in Cody now take US 16 at Buffalo west that is the safest. There are some 6% grades and one hair pin turn going down to Grey Bull. Just take it easy and use your low gears I was in second a couple of times it kept my speed down going down hill. Don't worry about the cars behind you. Will be coming back that way on Tuesday, On the way to MN for the FMCA international convention.
Unless you want to avoid the mountains altogether then take 90 north into MT I have not traveled that route but there are other threads that tell about it.

RE: Patriotic I am.

I had a camper two down from me setting off fireworks in the RV campground last night. Hey it's cool, then one of the whistling buzzers went off and I hear a tap, tap of something falling on my roof, hey it's a fluke the thing just went off into the wrong direction. Then some type of rocket with a report went off and again I hear the tap, tap of something falling on my roof. That was enough, I went over to the explained that their fireworks were dropping on my roof. They said that they would quit and did. But you have to wonder about what they are thinking when so many RVs are in a close proximity of their fireworks and they are using a type that no way they can control where they will end up....I think by you going over there, there is risk to yourself, but now they will at least be responsible for their actions (hopefully) and pay for the damages. If you would have called the police. They will only write them a citation if there is a violation, that is witnessed by them or if you press charges yourself then you have to show intent....

RE: Guess some people just can't be responsible campers

I came on here this morning after taking my dog for a walk to vent also but see you have taken my thoughts and wrote them down already. We will never change these people. They will always be self centered and inconsiderate to others around them. It's like the people that litter. Throw things out their window or use a remote area to dump their tires batteries and what ever else they have that will cost them a few bucks to discard properly. There will always be people that will not pick up after their pets, or let them out in the morning unattended at 6:00am to bark at everyone walking by. RUDE and like Ron White says "Can't Fix Stupid".

RE: Glass Tabletop

You might consider an epoxy finish. You mix two parts together and pour it onto your table. It is about like thick syrup. You spread it out with a plastic card. It is like the tables in some restaurants.
I got it at Lowes.
I was just going to say the same, if you are worried about scratching the wood. This surface is quite durable won't slide around, break or become a projectile in an accident. Do be careful about any drips over the edge so have the floor and surrounding area protected.

RE: Traveling to Black Hills and Yellowstone...need advice

Used to live in "The Black Hills" of SD.
Tallest mountain in the Black Hills is 7000 ft.
You will never be bothered by grades in the Black Hills!!
However don't try to take your RV on the Needles Hwy. There are very narrow and low tunnels you will have to go through. But don't miss seeing the beautiful rock formations.
You will cross the Continental Divide as you drive through Yellowstone and be on a few steep grades, but never a problem for most.
Best advise for either is to Park the RV and tour around in your toad.
We're going to the Black Hills/Custer area. Is there a number on the Needles Hwy, and where is it located? Thanks.
Needles Hwy is 87 take a look at the following pdf map its the one with all the tunnels.

I can't believe anyone is advocating the use of a gun. Who's invading whose territory?
I have to agree on this one.......crossbow is quieter :B
